If there are two identical words, except that one of the words have special characters. Then the word with special characters will only be suggested if it is common, in comparison to the other word. This means that words with special characters, that are not very common, will not be suggested.

Swedish keyboard dictionary no longer yields suggestions when you write “tack” and “att”. And the danish dictionary will not yield a suggestion when writing “det” or “bare”. This is only a few examples.

Note, that words that have special characters and that are used often, will still be suggested. Like the swedish word “här” will still be suggested when writing “har”.

And remember – if you don’t like a suggestion, just touch it – and it will go away. Over time, iPhone will learn what words you use and dont use.

The norwegian and danish dictionaries have a issue with the letter “Æ” which is not yet solved. I’ve added the bug to the list of known issues on each language.

Thanks to your comments I’ve improved all keyboard dictionaries and have now sent out an update. When you refresh your sources in Installer.app you will get the notification. All you need to do is to click the “update” button.

Today I’ve added a new language, polish. The polish dictionary contains a lot of words (!). I had to remove some of them, otherwise the dictionary would become too slow. I think I’ve been sucessfull removing words that are not that common. Please let me know what you think.

Last, but not least I thought it would be interesting to find out how many installs I had yesterday. This is the result. Mouse over if you want to see the exact number of installs:

Dit woordenboek bevat 155.144 Nederlandse woorden en elk woord heeft een relevantie. Als er een aantal dezelfde woorden is, beveelt de iPhone het woord met de hoogste relevantie aan.

Terwijl je typt, leert de iPhone automatisch nieuwe woorden.

Als je een suggestie wordt aangeboden die je niet wilt gebruiken, moet je dat woord aantikken. Telkens als je een woord gebruikt, of juist niet, onthoudt de iPhone dat en wordt de relevantie ervan groter of kleiner.

Apple zal uiteindelijk wel met een toetsenbord voor de Nederlandse taal komen, maar tot die tijd kun je dat van ons downloaden en installeren. Het woordenboek is gratis en we accepteren ook geen donaties. De kosten worden gedekt door de advertenties op onze site.

Dit woordenboek is ‘werk in uitvoering’. Mocht je een fout tegenkomen, geef die dan even door, maar wel in het Engels!

We provide a repository with our own developed international keyboard dictionaries for iPhone and iPod Touch. As you probably know, iPhone keyboard dictionaries prevents and corrects mistakes while you’re typing (check out the Apple keyboard demo)

Our keyboard dictionaries are easy to install. And if you don’t like them, they’re also very easy to uninstall :-)
